This Normand style house had whitewashed walls, with a brightly-coloured painted cedar plank roof. The coloured roof helped our ancestors identify their homes upon returning from a hunting trip or an  excursion on the river, especially in wintertime.

Many of the Iroquois Nations believed that the spirit of the Great Pine was a peace maker.
